Chemigrams on photosensitive paper
Juno is an attempt to recreate the universe while embracing spontaneity, we create abstract images and sophisms.
he Juno space probe is a NASA mission orbiting Jupiter, designed to study the planet’s atmosphere, interior, gravitational and magnetic fields, as well as its moons.
During our experimental photography class, we explored photograms and chemigrams, experimenting with different techniques. Our teacher, photographer José Luís Neto, provided valuable insights and tricks to help us create interesting compositions through the photographic development process.
The technique used for chemigrams involved photo development
in a natural light environment, with Fomabrom and Ilford A4 photo paper. I applied blockers to slow down the reaction of the photographic crystals, allowing for gradual development. The materials included thick, wet solutions such as detergent, acrylic paint, and various oils. This process was inherently abstract, leaving room for spontaneity and experimentation.
